Health insurance in the Netherlands

Are you planning on coming to the Netherlands to work and/or live here. Then you will need health insurance in the Netherlands. Even if you already have insurance in your home country. Does your family come with you? Then, they have to take our insurance as well.

Easy to take out insurance

There is already a lot you need tot do when you come to work in a different country. That’s why we try to make taking out Netherlands health insurance easy for you. First, you need to register in the municipality where you are going to live. After you do that, you will get a “Burger service nummer (BSN)”. This number indicates that you live in the Netherlands. With this BSN, you can take out an insurance with us. You can do so by going to our website an applying for insurance online.

Insured through your employer

Another option is to be insured by your employer. We have contracts with a lot of employers in the Netherlands. If you are going to work for one of those employers, they can take out health insurance for you. They have acces to a portal, in which they can register you as a new insured person. Do you temporarily leave The Netherlands, and do you come back after a while? We can pause your insurance while you are gone and we will turn it back on when you return. This way, you don’t have to pay for the period of time you are not here. Your employer can also arrange for you to get ‘zorgtoeslag’. This is money from the Dutch government to help you pay for your health insurance.

For more information, go to our website. We look forward to welcoming you to HollandZorg.
